Communication & Organization of Information

The projects showcased here demonstrate excellent collaborative, communication and organizational skills.

For this project my team, including David Adler, Nono Burling, Gina Greenlaw and myself, analyzed a fictitious library community with a predetermined dilemma. The goal was to construct a social organization and examine the effects of certain events. From the viewpoint of relevant stakeholders.

In order to facilitate effective diffusion of information, I was required to customize a set of  sources for two very different audiences. I created a tip sheet for use by healthcare workers in the field and an executive summary for project leaders. Although the information is taken from the same sources, the presentation is unique for each group according to the diagnosed need.

Relating the art of design to the intricacies of the reference interview, I show the importance of information gathering and synthesis to both processes. Using this interdisciplinary approach allowed me to communicate the value of a client-centered approach to database design, based on a through reference interview.
Information Seeking (Newsletter)

I was able to present the information seeking style of a photographer in words and his own photographs in this newsletter portrayal of the results of an in-depth reference interview. Using interdisciplinary theories to explain the nature and process of this information search, as well as the reasons behind this person’s preferred information collection methods.

A discussion of the need for appropriate and effective tools of health information dissemination. With a focus on the issue of low health literacy, an area of great concern for me, I presented a variety of methods and concepts important in the presentation (dissemination) and thus the understanding (diffusion) of health information.
