Instructional Skills The resources below demonstrate an ability facilitate effective learning via a variety of formats, as well a commitment to life-long learning. Additional life-long learning opportunities are presented here.
 | Working with Meredith Solomon and Alicia Yokoyama, I participated in teaching the class the basics of this valuable resource, including an overview of the site and several features that make MedlinePlus an invaluable resource for librarians and the public alike.
|
 | As part my Health Literacy Coordinator internship I created a bibliography covering the topic of health literacy, including research, tools, and curriculum resources. |
 | As part of an outreach campaign, I designed a tool for Tuality Healthcare, Library Resources for Employees, to educate the staff about the various databases and materials available, and how to access them. This was re-designed as a table tent and displayed throughout the institution to observe National Medical Librarians Month, October 2005.
|
 | Via presentation and a brochure handout, Meredith Solomon, Joan Truncali and I introduced our colleagues to the MeSH thesaurus, and explained the objectives, uses and unique structure of this classification system from the National Library of Medicine. |
 | In order to expose myself to the reference desk and translate my customer service experience into valuable library skills, I participated in the Reference Interview course offered by the Reference and User Services Association, a division of the American Library Association.

As Teaching Assistant for this project I was responsible for the design and creation of an online evidence-based practice chiropractic library instruction course for faculty and students at Western States Chiropractic College in Portland, Oregon. Using Moodle open-source content management software, I created a course that highlighted the specific resources available to chiropractic practitioners as well as laying a foundation for the concept of evidence-based practice information searches.
